St. Joseph 2011

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your sweet comments in regards to this family tradition. My grandmother would have been SO proud of this years' Altar, that's for sure! My mom and her friends/family did an excellent job! On the left is the tribute to the "old Italians" that put this on each year, sadly all of them have passed. Just wanted to share some Altar pics with all of you, a picture of SOME of our very large, Italian family and a picture of my boys...Jacob LOVED the spaghetti and Justin LOVED the cookies...ah, so different!

Bonka, you are SO missed. At the Altar, it just doesn't feel the same without you there. I still talk to you, feel you around me and always want to make you proud. I see my mom with the boys and the relationship they are creating and I can't help but think about the bond between you and I that was there for SO long. I love you, miss you and am so happy that our family has remained close after you left us. I will make sure we create new memories and that my boys will always remember our BONKA. Love you.

So nice. The Altar is beautiful. My grandmother organizes the one for their church and we usually go every year. I was sad we had to miss it this year. I know she is very proud and puts a lot of work into it.

The altar looks great. I have to research this more. I find it fascinating.

Thanks for sharing the photos Marissa, sadly I do not have any of altars here in Italy as I am not a Roman Catholic ( but Church Of England) so did not venture to look for one, maybe next year.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am now following you. What a wonderful tribute to your Bonka. I lost my Mammaw at a very young age and missed out on creating wonderful memories with her. I am loving watching my kids and mom have a relationship I never got to have.
