I have been telling myself for months to go to a teacher supply store to get some workbooks for Jacob, since I haven't been working with him very much this summer and he'll be starting MDO-preschool twice a week again! His MDO last year was GREAT but as far as curriculum and learning, unfortunately they were a bit behind. I am a former teacher, but I taught K-5 P.E., before that it was 7-8 grade Health and 5-6 grade P.E. before that...so, my teaching skills relate to motor skills, nutrition, health and most importantly, the importance of physical activity! So, this is where I fall behind -letter sounds, colors and shapes, and other "classroom" skills! Luckily, we were out shopping today at Target, we made a pass through the dollar aisles...and found these!
Pretty neat, right?! We came home and immediately he wanted to start working on one, so he chose the alphabet book! Cute stuff in here and each book came with reward stickers :)
Any other teachers out there have suggestions for this Momma??!
as always, they'd be greatly appreciated!

Wow! you have a beautiful family! Following you back. Isn't the dollar spot at target the greatest!?!
As a former teacher I also feel like I needed to do more this summer with Little Chick. Although I think I do through games and books, but as moms we always think we can do more. First, I was not a fan of children and computers because I think they should be running and climbing, but I love Starfall.com. It is so great for them to learn. It is free. Just Google Starfall.com. I also do a lot of alphabet and word puzzles with withe Little Chick. Another great thing is practicing letters with sidewalk chalk outside. Melissa and Doug have great puzzles and word games. Have a great day!

Hi Marissa! You found some great workbooks, they look similar to ones I got for my kids when they were younger. Thank you for this post, you reminded me it's not too late to work with them! And Mama Hen has some great ideas, I'll look into Starfall.com too.
I'm stopping by from Mama's Little Nestwork, and your newest follower!
Have a great day!

Cool, I am going to have to go to Target now and get some!
I was going to suggest the dry erase baords. I just got one made by Crayola that has different sheets that store inside and you choose letters, numbers or blank, etc. Little Chick loves it! I also love to get flashcards. They make so many great ones and they are cheap. I carry them in my purse all the time for when we are in a restuarant or on the train, etc. Have a great night! I need recipe bloggers. Do you know any? If so, lets see if we can get them in the Nest!
